In the 1980s François-Paul Journe created pocket watches for demanding timepiece collectors. In 1991, his first wristwatch was presented at the Basel Watch & Jewelery Fair, a watch with a 38mm platinum case. In 2001, FPJourne published a brand new tourbillon with a limited production of 99 pieces, thus marking the birth of the ruthenium-plated series - a total of five watches, each with a 40 mm case. Since then, FPJourne's products are available in 38 mm and 40 mm two sizes to choose from.
Until 2006, FPJourne launched another table Grande Sonnerie size three self-ming watch, case diameter 42 mm. Then collectors began to pursue 42 mm caliber timepieces.
