New concept of high-speed packing from shrink packaging technology

Cermex, a specialist in packaging, borrowed a new design concept from its sister company, heat shrink machine manufacturer Cermex OC, and launched a high-speed continuous motion wrapping machine. During the operation of this machine, the slab of the box is wrapped in the finished product instead of the product as usual, and the speed is up to 50 boxes per minute.

The WP60 new case packer arranges and transports the product in a straight line, avoiding the complexity of moving the finished product to the box blank at high speed. The box blanks are stretched on the side of the WP60 machine with the upright front side of the box at an angle of 90 degrees to the rest, and a notch in the product conveyor belt causes each box blank to be introduced from below to the product. This is very similar to the way that a single-scroll continuous motion shrinks the packaging machine to guide the film.

The finished product drives the front side of the box to move forward. At the same time, a turning device wraps the box blank on the product. This action is similar to the shrink packaging machine. Finally, the upper lids of the boxes are overlapped and the boxes that complete the box are transferred to the upper compression conveyor to fix the joints. In addition, the feeding device for box blanks can be replenished at any time. It is installed on the left or right side of the machine and can approach forklifts from upstream and downstream, respectively, to make the most effective use of existing sites.

At the same time, the system can also produce a wraparound tray that can be adjusted by servo drives to accommodate different sized boxes or trays.

The WP60 Case Packer took a further design concept from Cermex OC's shrink wrapper and introduced an interchangeable cassette device to support the different dimensions of the finishing system. This device can be transported by a trolley to the machine and can be interchanged with the previous cassette device so that the package size can be changed within a few minutes.
