US 3Dom launches new glass PLA 3D printed wire

For desktop-level 3D printers using FDM technology, the quality and characteristics of the printed object are heavily influenced by the type of filament used. Traditional filaments like PLA or ABS have limited properties, which can restrict the creativity of users. However, recent advancements in hybrid filament technology are breaking these boundaries, offering more versatile and powerful options for 3D printing enthusiasts. Recently, 3Dom, a U.S.-based company known for introducing biodegradable 3D printing filaments, has launched a new product: a glass-filled PLA filament made by blending conventional PLA with glass fibers. Compared to standard PLA, this new material offers enhanced strength, toughness, and flexibility, making it ideal for more demanding applications. The goal of 3Dom is to expand the possibilities of 3D printing, enabling users to create parts that can be used in real-world engineering applications while also providing more creative tools for the maker community. According to reports from China’s 3D Printing Network, this new filament has a maximum tensile strength of 57 MPa—nearly 40% stronger than regular PLA and 30% tougher. It also exhibits 1.9 times the elasticity of traditional PLA, with a tensile elongation of up to 3.4%. Like standard PLA, this filament is less prone to warping during printing and has no strong odor. The recommended printing temperature ranges from 190°C to 210°C, and it can be used on non-heated build plates without requiring special extruders. Additionally, 3Dom claims that prints made with this material have a smooth finish similar to ceramics, enhancing their aesthetic appeal. The new filament is currently available on 3Dom's official website, priced at $49 per kilogram for both 1.75mm and 2.85mm versions.
