Corrugated Board Production Line Frequently Asked Questions and Maintenance Six

6. The production of cardboard is soft

The softness of paperboard is a common problem in paper and cotton thread. The main factors are materials, starch paste, temperature, and environmental humidity.

6.1 The pros and cons of materials are the main reason. With the increasingly fierce competition in the market, various manufacturers have pushed prices down to seize the market. Some plants use inferior raw materials to reduce production costs. These low-gram base papers are characterized by uneven thickness, very little sizing, high sediment content, and very few tough fibers. This material can not only make high-quality cardboard, but also accelerate the wear of the corrugating roller.

6.2 Many people think that starch paste is too thick and sticky. This is wrong. Conversely, too thick or single slurry and excessive double-sided pulp are the cause of the softness of the board.

6.3 Cardboard production temperatures include steam temperature and ambient temperature. Cardboard steam soup temperature is usually between 165 °C ~ 185 °C, should increase the temperature when the vehicle speed is high, reduce the temperature when the vehicle speed is low, avoid high temperature and low speed production. Too large a temperature difference between the paperboard and the environment can cause the paperboard to easily absorb moisture and soften, especially when the unsized paper is used.

6.4 Improper adjustment of pressure can also cause the board to be soft. Pay attention to the adjustment of the gap between the rubber roller and the pressure roller on the double-sided machine and the height control of the hot bed pressure roller. When the pressure roller is adjusted too low, it will cause the deformation of the top of the crucible to cause the board to be soft due to insufficient pressure resistance.
