How We Did It

Licensing
This product is officially licensed by AMC, which meant it had to go through a thorough approval process. AMC has high standards, and CustomUSB worked closely with them to ensure every detail matched the character. After the network expressed interest in a special memorabilia item, the team proposed several zombie designs. The Bicycle Girl was ultimately chosen not only because of her popularity among fans but also because she perfectly represented the show's terrifying aesthetic.
Initial Design
Once the decision was made to model the USB after the Bicycle Girl, the creative team knew they had a unique opportunity to create something truly special. After multiple rounds of brainstorming, they developed detailed renderings. One of the biggest challenges was designing a pose that was both realistic and functional. After three iterations, the team settled on the perfect stance — with the zombie reaching out as if trying to grab the user.
An “aha moment†came when the team decided that accessing the USB would require pulling out the zombie's "guts," revealing the ultra-thin drive inside. This design not only added a dramatic visual element but also helped protect the USB from damage. Once the final design was approved, tooling began, and pre-production samples were sent to AMC for final review.
Finishing Touches
