Michal Trpak with Contemporary Art Design

Today, Covet House is thrilled to introduce you to the work of Czech artist Michal Trpak, whose artistic vision brings contemporary art into our everyday urban environments. Trpak’s sculptures are not confined to galleries—they are placed in public spaces, inviting interaction and reflection from passersby.

Born in 1982 in the Czech Republic, Trpak believes that art should be accessible and integrated into daily life. He aims to create a dialogue between his installations, the architecture around them, and the people who encounter them. “I want my art to spark conversation,” he says. “If people talk about it or feel something, then I know I’ve succeeded.”

In his work, Trpak explores themes of modern society and spatial interaction. He sees sculpture as a focal point within a space. While galleries offer a controlled environment, public spaces challenge artists to consider scale, context, and impact—making the creative process more dynamic and meaningful. “Art should speak for itself,” he believes. “The stories come from the people who engage with it.”

“The one who works by hands is a worker. The one who works by hands and head is a craftsman. The one who works by hands, head, and heart is an artist.” — Francis of Assisi

Since 2007, Trpak has been organizing the "ART In the City" exhibition in Ceske Budejovice, bringing sculptors together in public spaces during the summer months. He also curates the "Sculpture Line" exhibition in Prague since 2015. His works can be found in public spaces and private collections across Europe, America, and Russia.

Beyond his artistic projects, Trpak travels to remote locations like Alaska, Kamchatka, and the Himalayas, seeking inspiration from nature. For him, the natural world is the greatest sculptor, offering endless ideas and perspectives.
