How To Package Rabbit Hay – The Packaging Doctor

How to Package Rabbit Hay – The Packaging Doctor

By Carl Board • Wednesday 23rd December 2015

With Christmas just days away, it's been an exciting yet busy time for our team at The Surgery, as we've been helping customers with questions on how to best protect their goods during this high-demand season. One of the most rewarding parts of our job is supporting businesses that care about their products and their customers — especially when those customers include our furry friends.

At Kite, we believe in providing clear, helpful advice so you can make the most of our packaging solutions. That’s why we always take the time to ensure not only human needs are met but also those of animals — like rabbits who rely on quality hay for their health and comfort.

Today, I had a visit from a customer who sells rabbit food and was looking for better storage and packaging options. Let me share his story and the solution we came up with.

Dear Doctor,

I sell and store a large amount of rabbit hay, and I’ve been using polythene bags for storage. However, they don’t hold up well in cold weather, and condensation has started ruining the hay. I’ve been searching for a better option, but haven’t found anything suitable yet. I really hope you can help.

Thank you,

John

Hi John,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing your challenge. I completely understand how frustrating it can be when your packaging isn’t doing its job — especially when it affects the quality of your product.

While polythene bags are great for some uses, they aren’t ideal for long-term or cold-weather storage of hay. The good news is, there’s a much better alternative that will keep your rabbit hay safe, fresh, and protected during transport and storage.

We recommend using Double Wall Cardboard Boxes with Hand Holes. These boxes are sturdy, durable, and perfect for heavier items like hay. The hand holes on the sides make them easy to carry, and they also allow for air circulation inside the box, which helps prevent condensation and keeps the hay dry and fresh.

This simple yet effective solution should work perfectly for your business. If you need more information or want to see samples, feel free to get in touch.

Best wishes,

The Packaging Doctor
