The first involved printing the main body using Cincinnati Incorporated’s BAAM (Big Additive Manufacturing Machine), which took 44 hours. In the second stage, Thermwood's reduced material manufacturing techniques were used, including a full day of milling. Finally, the third phase focused on assembly, where Local Motors' team completed the final touches, making the car ready to drive. All it took was inserting the key and starting the car for its maiden voyage. Now, Local Motors has taken the concept even further by announcing the creation of an ultra-precise 1:10 scale model of the Strati. This mini version allows enthusiasts to print their own Strati replica at home using the same digital files that were used to create the full-size model at the Chicago show. According to the Antarctic Bear 3D Printing Network, the printable files are identical to those used for the original Strati, giving users the opportunity to bring their own mini Strati to life with a personal 3D printer. The 1:10 scale file includes all necessary components, such as wheels, steering shafts, suspension parts, and even foot pedals. Detailed images provided by Local Motors can help guide users through the assembly process.
