However, in Hefei, couples are now exploring a new trend: 3D wedding photographs that showcase unique personalities. These 18 cm 3D images come with a price tag of nearly 2,000 yuan, making them a luxury for many. Despite this high cost, the demand remains low. A recent survey by a reporter revealed that both 3D experience centers and photo studios in Hefei receive only two to three orders per day, sometimes even fewer. The combination of high costs, expensive prices, and limited consumer interest has created challenges for the 3D printing market in the city. Xiao Bian, a reporter, visited several 3D experience halls and spoke with Yu Jialing, an operator at one of them. According to Yu, the daily business volume is minimal, and on some days, there may be no sales at all. Although occasional orders from colleges and universities do come in, the number of people interested is much higher than those who actually make purchases. The 3D photo studios also face similar issues—there's a lot of curiosity, but few actual transactions. To adapt to the current market conditions, Yu Jialing has shifted the focus of their business towards 3D technical training. The main target audience for these training programs includes students majoring in industrial design, animation, and product development. They learn how to create 3D character models and use 3D printing technology to bring them to life. Currently, the second session of the training program has already started, with dozens of participants. Each trainee pays more than 10,000 yuan in tuition fees. This shift in business strategy reflects the growing need to find sustainable revenue streams in a market where consumer demand is still limited. According to Yuan Ziji, director of the 3D Printing and Laser Remanufacturing Technology Research Center at Hefei University of Technology, 3D printing technology is not widely adopted by the general public in Hefei. While people are aware of it, very few actually use it. Most 3D printers in the city are purchased by educational institutions as teaching tools, which limits their application and exposure. Additionally, the high costs associated with 3D printing technology also play a role in its slow adoption. For example, importing a color portrait 3D printer can cost between 50,000 to 60,000 US dollars, and the raw materials used for printing are often imported as well. At around 800 yuan per kilogram, the cost of materials, combined with factors like loss, depreciation, and longer printing and post-processing times, makes the final product expensive for consumers. As a result, the pricing of 3D printing services is far from being accessible to the average person.
