Apple Media Media Program Incompatible with New IE

Apple Computer's QuickTime video media program is incompatible with Microsoft's new browser, IE 5.5. This problem also occurs with IE 6 test software.

QuickTime is incompatible with Microsoft's browser. The main problem is that Microsoft has modified the plug-ins code in Microsoft's browser to support other vendors' web applications. Plug-ins was originally developed by Netscape Communications, and it uses a combination of programs and programs to extend the capabilities of the web browser itself. However, Microsoft did not support plug-ins in IE 5.5 and instead used Microsoft's own AcitveX.

Apple Computer discovered the problem at the end of July when Microsoft launched the IE 5.5 upgrade software (codename SP2). After installing the new browser, it was unable to watch the status of the QuickTime movie.

This issue also occurred in the Microsoft IE 6 trial version, Apple Computer is working with Microsoft to resolve. Jim Cullinan, head of Microsoft's Windows XP product, said that this situation should be resolved in the short term. Other audio and video software on the market such as RealPlayer, Acrobat Reader and Shockwave have no similar situation.
