The product arrived on April 11th, but I didn’t use it that same day. On the 12th, which was a Sunday, it rained all day. Due to some commitments, I had to go out, and I always worried about getting my shoes wet. As soon as I received the spray, I applied it to my shoes, and the results were impressive. When it rained, the water just rolled off the shoes, forming droplets instead of soaking in. To further test its effectiveness, I decided to conduct another experiment today, May 10th, on a rainy Sunday.
**Experiment One**
I took a thick white paper and cut it into four pieces—two large and two small. I sprayed one of the large pieces thoroughly. As soon as the spray was applied, it was quickly absorbed. Then, I poured water onto both large pieces. The left side, which had been treated with the waterproof spray, showed the same effect as a lotus leaf: the water formed droplets and rolled off. The untreated paper on the right side absorbed the water immediately, and when I shook it, it looked like the image shown in Figure 1.
On the smaller pieces, I tested the spray’s resistance to oil by pouring cooking oil on both sides. The difference was clear—only the treated side repelled the oil effectively, proving that Daikin’s waterproof spray is highly effective against both water and oil.
**Experiment Two**
For the second test, I used a piece of cloth. I sprayed the center of the fabric and waited for it to dry. Once it was fully absorbed, I poured water in the middle. The water formed a distinct droplet and stayed on top of the treated area, while the rest of the cloth absorbed the water quickly.
One downside of the spray is its strong odor. It has a noticeable chemical smell that can be overwhelming if not used in a well-ventilated area. The bottle also comes with a warning: “Harmful to inhalation.†So, it's important to use it carefully and in a safe environment.
