There are many types of label printing inks. According to the different solvents used, they can be divided into three categories: water-based label printing inks, solvent-based label printing inks and UV label printing inks.

The water-based ink is safe, hygienic, non-polluting, and meets the requirements of environmental protection, which is beneficial to human health; but it also has shortcomings, such as slow drying speed, low color saturation, and poor stability. Layer phenomenon.

Solvent-based label printing inks have strong adaptability to label materials, stable performance, and high printing quality; but there are environmental pollution problems, and some volatile solvents are harmful to humans.

UV label printing ink has excellent performance, reliable quality, and wide application range; but the price is relatively high, and requires special drying equipment, and also has certain requirements for supporting materials.

When selecting label printing inks, it is necessary to comprehensively consider several factors such as the type of printing material, printing method and printing conditions, customer's special requirements, post-press processing technology, label use and use conditions, and cost. The performance of label printing ink mainly includes hue, fineness, saturation, gloss, adhesion, viscosity, dryness, etc. These properties have an important impact on the printing process and printing quality.

3. Sticker printing process

Flexographic printing is a new type of printing process currently popularized in the international printing industry. Its advantages are simple machine structure, low cost, comparable printing quality to offset gravure printing, and the advantage of thick ink layer that offset printing does not have; Its ink uses water-based ink, does not pollute the environment. Legislation in some developed countries stipulates that packaging labels for foods and medicines must be printed on flexo plates.

Most of the printing plates used for flexographic printing of adhesive labels now use solid resin plates, and the inks use universal inks or UV inks. Although flexographic printing plate has the advantage of full ink color, the printing screen line is limited, generally only reaching 133 lines / inch, which is far from meeting the increasingly high quality requirements of self-adhesive label users.

The flexographic label printing equipment is all narrow-format flexo printing machines, which are mainly domestically produced. The equipment has two characteristics: one is the use of UV inks instead of water-based inks. UV ink has good stability, avoiding frequent cleaning of printing plates and inking system. More importantly, the color density of UV ink is greater than that of water-based ink, which can improve the printing quality of labels. Another feature is the universal use of film-free direct laser plate-making technology, which avoids the loss of small dots and the gradation of large dots, improves the image hierarchy, and greatly improves the clarity of graphics and printing quality.

Flexographic printing, with its high-quality prints and unique advantages called "green printing", will become the future development trend of self-adhesive label printing. Therefore, it is no exaggeration to say that flexographic printing stickers are the future direction of development. At present, domestic companies using domestic resources and foreign technology to produce flexographic printing equipment are gradually being used by domestic printing companies in terms of printing quality and price. Accepted, the market share of applied flexographic printing stickers is growing rapidly.


4. Self-adhesive materials

The application scope of self-adhesive labels mainly includes decoration materials and trademark materials. The decoration materials are mainly films, which are mainly used for decorative decals on cars and motorcycles, logo text on trademark windows, reflective films on highways, and markings on containers. The trademark materials are mainly paper and film, which are further subdivided into basic labels and variable information labels according to the scope of application. Basic labels mainly include labels for commodities such as food and beverage, chemical products, medicines, office supplies, toys, shampoos, electrical appliances, and sanitary products. Variable information labels include batch numbers, sequence codes, barcodes, production dates, expiration dates, prices, information processing in the mailing process, distribution, warehouse management, inventory data, etc.

The self-adhesive material consists of three parts: face material, glue and bottom paper. Choosing a suitable customer's sticker product is by no means an easy task. Based on the experience of professional workers, we should understand from the following aspects:

1. Permanent and removable adhesive. Judging from the performance of adhesives, the overall can be divided into two categories: permanent and removable.

2. Emphasize the meaning of the sticker surface. Labels processed with self-adhesive materials may be labeled on the surface of various materials. Different label surfaces have a great influence on performance.

3. The surface structure and shape of the label substrate. Intuitively, the rough surface of the label requires glue with a higher viscosity. The surface of the label substrate is divided into a flat surface and a curved surface. If the label surface has a certain curvature (for example, the surface of a medicine bottle with a diameter of less than three centimeters), it may be necessary to have good adaptability of the tissue or glue with strong viscosity.

4. The cleanliness of the label surface. Self-adhesive materials are best for labeling substrates with clean, dry surfaces, free of oil marks and dust.

5. The adverse effect of plasticity on the glue is also the requirement of weather resistance. For example, whether the viscosity of the adhesive needs to be affixed under cold, hot, humid or room temperature conditions; whether the adhesive label is exposed to the environment below freezing point; whether it is used outdoors, high temperature, humidity or light containing ultraviolet rays, And whether it is close to a car engine with a higher temperature.

6. The requirements of printing methods and processing methods on self-adhesive materials. After choosing different printing methods (such as flexo printing, letterpress printing, offset printing, thermal transfer and laser printing) and processing methods (such as roll-to-roll, roll-to-sheet, foldable paper feed method, sheet-to-sheet) , Before deciding on the printed material.
