When testing, first set the multimeter to R*10KΩ, then use the black pen to connect the db of the IGBT, and the red pen to the source s of the IGBT. At this time, the pointer of the multimeter is at zero. Touch the gate g and the drain d simultaneously with your finger. At this time, the IGBT is triggered to conduct, and the pointer of the multimeter swings in a direction with a small resistance value, and can be fixedly indicated at a certain position. Then touch the gate g and the source s with the finger at the same time, when the IGBT is blocked and the pointer of the multimeter is returned to zero. If the measured condition does not match the above, it indicates that the IGBT under test has a problem.

2. Detect whether the IGBT contains a damper tube, or use the R*1K file of the pointer multimeter to detect, or use the diode file of the digital multimeter to measure the forward voltage drop of the PN junction. The specific operation method is as follows:

The resistance values ​​measured at normal times are infinite. Then use the red meter of the multimeter to connect the drain d of the IGBT, and the black pen is connected to the source s. If the measured value is about several KΩ, it indicates that the IGBT contains a damper tube: if the measured resistance value is about several tens of KΩ, then It indicates that there is no damper tube in the IGBT. For a digital multimeter, under normal conditions, the forward voltage drop between the d and s poles of the IGBT tube is about 0.5V.

4. When using a digital multimeter to detect an IGBT, the tube is extremely susceptible to being charged by external electromagnetic fields or static electricity, and a small amount of charge can form a relatively high voltage on the interelectrode capacitance to damage the tube. Therefore, care should be taken when measuring and take appropriate anti-static induction. For example, before measuring, short-circuit the human body to the ground, and then touch the pins of the IGBT.
