Then touch the gate g and the source s with the finger at the same time, when the IGBT is blocked and the pointer of the multimeter is returned to zero. If the measured condition does not match the above, it indicates that the IGBT under test has a problem.

If the measured value is about several KΩ, it indicates that the IGBT contains a damper tube: if the measured resistance value is about several tens of KΩ, then It indicates that there is no damper tube in the IGBT. For a digital multimeter, under normal conditions, the forward voltage drop between the d and s poles of the IGBT tube is about 0.5V.

When using a digital multimeter to detect an IGBT, the tube is extremely susceptible to being charged by external electromagnetic fields or static electricity, and a small amount of charge can form a relatively high voltage on the interelectrode capacitance to damage the tube. Therefore, care should be taken when measuring and take appropriate anti-static induction. For example, before measuring, short-circuit the human body to the ground, and then touch the pins of the IGBT.
