In the past, when the surface of a corrugating roll became worn, traditional methods such as hard chrome plating were commonly used. However, this method often failed to provide sufficient durability, leading to frequent maintenance and replacement.
Now, a new type of corrugating roll has been developed using a silicon carbide-chromium nanoceramic coating. This advanced coating technology significantly improves the roll's performance and longevity.
The process involves applying a 0.08 mm to 0.10 mm thick silicon carbide-chromium nanoceramic coating on the working surface of the corrugating roll substrate. The coating consists of three layers: the first layer forms an ion diffusion layer that is strongly bonded to the substrate; the second layer serves as a base that connects with the first; and the outermost layer is the silicon carbide-chromium nanoceramic coating itself, providing superior hardness and wear resistance.
This innovative technology offers approximately three times the wear resistance compared to conventional hard chrome coatings. As a result, the service life of the corrugating roll is significantly extended, reducing downtime and maintenance costs. This advancement not only enhances operational efficiency but also lowers overall production expenses, making it a game-changer in the corrugated board industry.
